The show SHE-HULK Attorney At Law starts out with Jennifer Walters played by Tatiana Maslany already breaking the forth walk, telling us that she is She Hulk.
And in a fun comedic way, she brings us into the actual episode. Cue in the flashback and such on how she became SHE-HULK! Her backstory and told really well. The story flows through the episode seamlessly without any moments that made it feel like it lost its footing.
Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters is relatable, comedic timing is great, she’s fun and interesting. Speaking of Jennifer Walter the first lines she says in the show is---
“What is the responsibility of those with power? Do they merely have an obligation to refrain from the misuse of that power, or do they have a duty to protect those without it?”
Which mirrors SpiderMan's iconic line "With great power comes great responsibility." For Peter Parker and Jennifer Walter it's asking this question of how do I wanna take on this new view and powerset in life? My values and responsibilities I am now given.
It's no mistake Jen is first and foremost a lawyer, sticking up that role no matter what. Even if she's not a HULK. Speaking of HULK, her relationship with Bruce is an interesting one as well.
And Tatiana Maslany is playing it off really well with Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), her cousin. You can tell this is chemistry between the characters and actors! Which is pretty good! I'm intersted to see what else we will get between.
This episode we are mostly given the backstory of how Tatiana Maslany's Jennifer Walters became SHE--HULK. The backstory transitions back and forth between how she got her power and building up her strength.
With the story starting with Bruce and Jen in the car talking with Captain America being a virgan or not, along with other charcters in the MCU (*spoilers for the end of the episode* He isn't one! It's hilarious and I love it!) when suddenly the car tips over and crash, it's then we get a glimpse to Jen transforming into SHE--HULK. We get teased more later on until she's knocked out fully and taken to a island in MEXICO by Bruce (who is now transformated into SMART HULK and healed).
The rest of the epsiode Jen is fully transformated in SHE--HULK as we see her and Bruce, now SMART HULK, training togethor. One thing that we noticed during the training session is that Bruce's HULK isn't able control her emotions and anger while Jennifer's HULK can right away. Which shocks him but makes sense for Jennifer.
Since as explained later, woman have so many emotions running though us and we wear them more on our sleeves that we eventually learn when and how to control it for so many reasons. Sometimes. Key word: sometimes!
Bruce eventally understands her, how she is and her wanting to view this new side of herself as SHE--HULK. It's good charcter develpoment and work for Bruce while also expanding the relationship with his cousin, Jennifer. They don't dumb down the HULK side on both side, they explore it slowly and expand the relationship to make both characters better!
Eventually we return back and out of the flashback/backstory to present time to show us Jennifer Walters as the lawyer that she is and wants to be. We get a quick fight scene BUT the cuts where a little too much in opinion and could've done better without it, not flowing too well. However when she turns to Jennifer Walter to SHE--HULK then back to her normal human form was pretty good and transitions the best they could.
Overall, I enjoyed SHE--HULK Attorney At Law and the pilot episode felt solid. I can't wait to see what they do next for the upcoming episodes as they unravel this character and her corner of the MCU.
