Hawkeye Episode 1 & 2 Review

What a great way to ring in the holiday season, with Kate Bishop and Clint Barton! Here's my quick review on Hawkeye episode 1 and 2!

In the first episode, we are introduced to a young Kate in the beginning during the Battle of 2012 as she sees from her New York City apartment the battle and the first thing she notices is Hawkeye being a badass, who becomes her inspiration in the future. I love that she got her inspiration from a young age from that certain Avenger. You also see when she grows up, she becomes a pretty great archer.

Then we cut to the Barton family enjoying their Christmas in New York watching Rogers: The Musical that is kinda cool. You even noticed Clint watching it and he saw Black Widow on stage dancing, reminding him of Natasha. The Barton family kids are adorable and the music is pretty good as well.

The rest of the episode, we jump back and forth between Kate and Clint sides of the story, with her family keeping secrets while his family is trying to enjoy the holiday season. Also we get the famous adorable golden retriever, Lucky the Pizza Dog who makes his appearance.

Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop was pretty great casting since she has a casual fangirl side when she sees Hawkeye (Clint Barton) and she’s lightly comedic in her scenes, allowing us fans to be easily introduced to her and even see ourselves in her. So I can't wait to see more of her on the small and big screen!

Like I said before, Kate is inspired by Clint Barton and it shaped her life goal to become a great archer. Within minutes of meeting each other, their relationship becomes a mentor and mentee situation with Clint trying to protect her and Kate wanting to learn from him. You can tell that Hailee Steinfeld and Jeremy Renner had a lot of fun working together while watching the scenes.

The street action fight scenes were done pretty well in my opinion, seeing the way both characters fight on screen and take a certain situation.

Kate steals the Ronin costume from a black market event and gets seen by the News, which catches Clint’s attention as he goes and finds the person who has that suit.

Eventually, they go up against the Tracksuit Mafia using hand to hand combat but get kidnapped by them in the end. Viewers also get a quick look at a new character named Echo, hopefully we get to see more of her in the episodes to come.

One of the most noticeable things in the Hawkeye series is that it takes place in New York during Christmas time so of course, we get a strong sense of the holiday feel in this show. It’s fun, the visuals are great and it’s the many focus point for Clint to get back his family before Christmas as the countdown progresses begins now!

I can’t wait to see what the next new episodes have in store to bring us, with the classic Marvel feel with a new light vibe to the MCU along with the holiday season bringing it all together.

What was your favorite part of the show so far? Do you like Kate Bishop? Anyways ciao for now! Remember to like, share and comment!
